Why did you come to create a novel through Google Drive?
The SEO of my publishing company is a computer man. He was researching Google Docs (then) and challenged me to do it. I said yes.
How can a person do to access your book online when you start typing in real time?
There are links on http://silviahartmann.com/live/ to go to the documents. I am working on a second document now as the character limit is 100,000 for a single Google document.
Up to 50 people at a time can watch me type live. I send out a notification via Twitter @starfields before I start a writing session. When there are more than 50 people, they are directed to a document which is updated every five minutes.
Can they make changes or just suggestions?
They cannot make changes (thank God!)
At the side of the page is a chat box for the live viewers. I see it from the corner of my eye when I'm writing.

Do you appreciate the comments and suggestion of your readers while you're writting? Why?
I am a story teller first of all. To have the direct gasps and cries from the audience is wonderful - uplifting, encouraging, and it lets me know what works as the story unfolds.
I have also used the readers as researchers, asking them for example to find the name for a particular type of lamp so I don't have to stop and Google it myself. Very helpful!
Very important to the project was the sex survey. In an early chapter, there is an incident where one character touches another, and complaints were received.
So I put a survey online, asking the readers how much sex they wanted.
Only 5% wanted no sex at all. 25% wanted complete sex scenes, 20% full on steamy erotica - and 50% answered with "We don't care just tell the story!"
With that established, I could continue with the support of 95% of the readership should the characters get close :-) It's great to know for a fact what the readers want rather than having to try and guess.
