A friend of my sister-in-law was coming to London to take part in a course and
he asked to stay over in our garden in his tent to save on accommodation costs.
When he arrived it was late, dark, and raining and so she suggested that he
sleep in our outdoor office instead. Fine said we, but it’s not much of a place
to spend the night. That’s OK, we were told, he prefers to be outside or in a
place on his own at night – he’ll be happier there as he often needs to wander
around in the night.
The next morning my sister-in-law asked us if her friend could buy a copy of
Adventures in EFT to take home with him since he had had some kind of energy
epiphany overnight.
The story? It goes like this…
This young man has suffered for years with burning sensations and a restless
feeling in his legs which drove him to distraction. He would often resort to
wandering around the garden in the middle of the night trying to get some cool
and relief – hence his desire to be outside and alone.
As usual, on his night spent in our office, he was woken by an intense heat
and discomfort in his legs. It was still raining and he was feeling very
agitated that he couldn’t walk outside. He turned the light on and looked around
him for some kind of diversion. A box of books caught his eye and he took one
out - “Adventures in EFT” he read on the cover. Not the kind of reading that
appealed to him at all he later told us – but anything to take try and take his
mind of his legs.
And so he began to read and, out of sheer desperation and the nothing to lose
school of thought, began tapping along as explained in the book. How much does
this bother you out of ten? he read, and growled to himself “about a twelve”.
He read on for a few minutes and tapped as described and, to his amazement,
the burning sensation soon began to feel soothed and the restlessness relieved.
After being awake for just a short while he was able to get back to sleep where
usually he would have been awake for hours feeling frustrated and tired
throughout the next day.
