Project Sanctuary - A book that really moooovved me to some places I didn't
know I needed to go
When I was sent this book to review, I had no idea how powerful it was. As
I read it I found myself lucid dreaming and in the process discovered things
about myself that delighted and astounded me.
This book was written to provide a tool for individuals and therapists to
address issues, in a lasting, coherent, holistic way within a framework that is
uniquely tailored to the individual.
This is what I gathered from reading the introduction anyway. I was expecting
to read a series of narratives that would provide, visualizations for dealing
with my issues in a very personal way.
So imagine my surprise when I discovered, it’s not just a book - it is an
experience.
One of the first things Silvia invites her readers to do is create an image
of their own sanctuary. So I went ahead and created something pretty, a place
where I would like to hang out. I finished that exercise feeling very please
with what I had made and thought no more about it. The following chapters
describe the types of things a person might include in their sanctuary for
example, water, a library, a garden. Nothing out of ordinary there I thought to
myself, until I started reading the sections.
As I read, the feature that she was describing appeared as if by magic in my
sanctuary,
I wasn’t even consciously thinking about my sanctuary at the time, but there
it, was interrupting my reading as if it had a life of it’s own. I experienced
the same lucid dreaming, while reading, throughout the entire book. It was truly
amazing, it gave me a handle on some things, I didn’t even know I needed a
handle on, and allowed me discover what life here was about for me.
If you are looking for a wonderful set of fun tools to delve into and
resolve issues or just find out more about yourself this would be a great book
for you. I wholeheartedly recommend it to individuals and therapists
alike.
